Baghel was here at the headquarters of Punjab Congress in Chandigarh. He along with Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Navjot Singh Sidhu addressed the media during a press conference.“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government at the centre have failed to control the ever-rising inflation,” Baghel said and termed the Gujarat model of development as a failure. Baghel said the rising prices of petrol, diesel and gas cylinders have made it tough for the citizens to manage their household expenses. During the rule of the Modi- led government the prices of petrol, diesel crossed Rs 100 per litre mark and the price of LPG cylinder has reached Rs1000 mark.“Similarly, the prices of pulses and edible oil have jumped from Rs 100 to Rs 200. Even the prices of other products including tea leaves, salt, etc. have also inflated and that it has become difficult for a common man to buy the daily essentials,” he said.Baghel disclosed that in the last few years, the assets of BJP have reached around Rs 4800 crore. Moreover, the wealth of their close associates has also increased. Some of them are also becoming trillionaires from billionaires.

“During Dr Manmohan Singh tenure as Prime Minister, the prices of petrol and diesel didn’t increase despite the rates of crude oil surged at international markets. But the Modi-led central government has increased the rates of fuel by imposing excise duty,” Baghel said and added that the central government had even become a hurdle for them when the government of Chhattisgarh wanted to give benefits to the farmers.Baghel stressed that when farmers protested against the three black laws, it was the congress party who supported the farmers. The central government remained stubborn for 14 long months and withdrew the laws in the view of upcoming assembly elections in UP and Punjab.Meanwhile, PPCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu talked about the ‘Punjab Model’ of congress party and said that this model has been prepared while considering the necessities of all sections of the society. “This model is based on the policies of former prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Dr BR Ambedkar. This model is built on extensive research. This model is prepared with proper planning and as per the ideology of Rahul Gandhi with a motive to uplift the state and meet the needs of all sections,” he said.Sidhu stated that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has not fulfilled the promises he had made to the people of Delhi. “Neither he had provided employment to the youth nor did he regularize the teachers in Delhi. But there is special emphasis on employment in our Punjab Model. We will give employment to 5 lakh youth in 5 years,” he announced.
