The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has welcomed the announcement of the Municipal Corporation leaders for waiving off parking and conversion charges for the traders of special Area. CAIT National Secretary General Mr. Praveen Khandelwal and Delhi State President Mr. Narendra Madan while welcoming the said announcement stated that it will bring much relief to the lakhs of traders operating in special areas. The CAIT is continuously demanding waiving off of parking and conversion charges from the areas which are already declared commercial and few days back at a meeting with Delhi Chief Minister where Commissioners of all three Municipal Corporations were also present, this issue was vigorously raised by the CAIT.

Both Mr. Khandelwal and Mr. Madan demanded that immediately a order should be released by the Commissioner to give practical effect to the announcement made by political leaders and a list of all such areas should be clearly released which will be benefited with this announcement to leave no scope for the MCD staff to use any discretion. They also demanded that all such notices issued by the Corporation to traders of special area should either be declared scrapped or sholud be withdrawn. They also demanded that under special area which has been given benefit, large numbers of establishments have remained sealed. All such establishments should be de-sealed by the Corporation.

Mr. Khandelwal and Mr. Madan also demanded that during the intervening period from 1962 to 7th Feburary, 2007, when the Master Plan 2021 was notified, Municipal Corporation of Delhi and DDA and other Authorities have declared many areas as commercial areas by way of notification and as such orders should be issued for not to levy parking and conversion charges on all such areas. Mr. Khandelwal also demanded that increased rate of 20% of property tax levied on commercial establishments is not genuine and should be reduced on the same terms on which property tax on industries have been reduced. The commercial establishments are already paying water, electricity and property tax on commercial rates. He said that property tax on commercial establishments should be reduced.
