PEDA under the aegis of Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Govt. of India is celebrating iconic Energy Conservation Awareness Week from 8th Dec 2021 till 14th Dec 2021through Road show for promotion of Electric Vehicles under Go Electric Campaign. While flagging off Road Show, Sh. Amarbir Singh, State Transport Commissioner, Punjab emphasized upon the adoption of Electrical Vehicles and their benefits for the sustainable future. He added that this campaign will educate to encourage the public through different electric vehicles i.e., 4 wheelers, 3 wheelers, 2 wheelers etc. which was demonstrated by theOEMs. Sh. M.P. Singh, Director, PEDA told that various initiatives have been taken in different sectors on energy conservation & energy efficiency under the guidelines of Bureau of Energy Efficiency, such as demo projects in street lighting & water pumping, successful implementation of PAT Scheme, ECBC implementation, established Punjab State Energy Conservation Fund, Investment Grade Energy Audit of Government / Public buildings, Publicity & Awareness through schools & college activities. Apart from these activities, PEDA being the State Designated Agency is also promoting electric vehicles for creating awareness among the common masses regarding the benefits of electric vehicles. Mr. Pankaj Bawa, Chief Town Planner&Ms. Amandeep Kaur Nijjer, STP, GMADAencouraged the general public to adopt electric vehicles to reduce the carbon footprints.The Road Show was followed by quiz’s competitions and prize distribution to the winners. In this road show, Sh. Manav Jain, Town Planner, Local Govt. Sh. Money Khanna, Sh. Rohit Kumar, Sh. Sharad Sharma, Project Engineers of PEDA were present during this campaign. Students from Various Schools also participated in the program.
