Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab OP Soni on Tuesday said that the Punjab government is committed to the holistic development of the state.During his maiden visit to Jalandhar, OP Soni said that all-out efforts are being made to provide amenities to the people of the state.Expressing solidarity with the families of farmers, who lost their lives during the ongoing agitation against the central farm laws, Deputy CM Soni handed over the job appointment letter of a government job to Hardeep Singh (22 years) son of deceased farmer Bhupinder Singh (52) of Bolina village in Jalandhar district.He reiterated his government’s firm commitment to oppose these anti-farmers laws and said that the Punjab government is standing with the farmers' movement to repeal the three black laws being implemented by the central government to break the backbone of the farmers.

“No stone will be left unturned to uplift the living standards of every section of the society. The government has waived the outstanding water bills and electricity bills upto 2 KW load of the unprivileged people,” Deputy CM said while interacting with media persons here.Apart from it, the Punjab government is going to confer proprietary rights to lakhs of people living in the houses within the ‘Lal Lakir’ under the ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ scheme, he added.Soni has also given Guard of Honour at Circuit house as it was his visit official first to the district as being Deputy Chief Minister. Jalandhar member of parliament Santokh Chaudhary, MLA Avtar Singh Junior, Mayor Jagdish Raj Raja, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori along with administrative officials gave a warm welcome to him. Meanwhile, taking part in the Shobha Yatra organized by the Punjab Valmiki Welfare Committee, he urged the devotees to follow the teachings of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji. The procession was also attended by Cabinet Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh, Lok Sabha Member Chaudhry Santokh Singh and Padma Shri Awardee Vijay Chopra.
