District Development Council Chairperson, Udhampur, Lal Chand laid foundation stone for construction of road from Sunari to Muthan via Suri Nallah in presence of DDC Vice Chairperson, Juhi Manhas Pathania and BDC Chairman, Balwan Singh, here on Sunday.DDC, Councillor, Udhampur-1 Puran Chand, DDC Councillor, Tikri Ashu Sharma, Ex-MLA, Pawan Kumar Gupta besides PRIs and General public of the area attended the programme.After laying the foundation stone, PRIs and local people accorded a warm welcome to the DDC Chairperson.While briefing the media persons, the DDC Chairperson said that construction of the road from Sunari to Muthan was a long pending demand of the people of the area. He added that road connectivity is the basic requirement for growth and development of an area and the government is endeavoring hard to develop a strong road network in the rural areas.
He called upon the officers to make sincere and dedicated efforts for providing all the benefits of government schemes to the targeted sections of the society. He added that the Government is determined to enhance basic facilities to people of the area at their doorsteps.The DDC Chairperson said that a number of developmental activities are being executed across the district with the involvement of PRIs in these activities. He also ensured prioritization of work as per local aspirations.
The 2.250 KM long road project would benefit more than 1000 population of various adjoining villages of the Panchayat.Later, the people of the area put forth demands and issues being faced by them in their respective areas. They sought construction of a motorable bridge over Suri Nallah, augmentation of drinking water supply, construction of Tractor Road, Black topping of various roads etc.The DDC Chairperson assured the public that all genuine demands will be fulfilled on priority.
