Minister for Health & Medical Education, Taj Mohi ud Din today said the hilly and far flung areas of the State have seen considerable growth and development of infrastructure during last five years. He said infrastructure development in far off regions and areas is the top priority of the State Government.According to the statement issued, addressing a series of public meetings at Isham, Dardekote, Bani, Pattian, Uroosa, Gwalta, Kalgi and other areas during his two day tour, the Minister said Government fashioned its development initiative in such a manner that the far flung and remote areas got duly reflected in its priority list. He said political executives and senior Government functionaries regularly visit these areas to ascertain the development needs and factor them in the developmental paradigm of the State.During the visit, the Minister conducted public durbars at these places and sought feedback from the people about the facilities and services provided to them by the Government. During these public durbars people brought their problems into the notice of the Minister who redressed them on the spot in presence of the officers accompanying him.

Taj said the present Government has worked hard to ameliorate the lot of people particularly those living below poverty line, in far flung areas and those belonging to weaker sections of society for whom many schemes and programmes are in vogue. The Minister said many path breaking steps were taken during the last five years of present Government. He said raising of water usage charges, which constitutes one-third of State’s revenue, would give power generation in J&K a big boost. He said the Health sector in the State has been refocused to provide all basic medical facilities to people living in far flung areas at their doorstep. He said similarly in other sectors like education, health, social welfare etc. J&K has seen phenomenal growth and progress.SDM, Uri, officers of district administration, engineers of several wings and sectoral officers accompanied the Minister during the two day visit.
