Though being reserved on the reason behind Narednra Modi’s move to invite SAARC heads on his swearing-in ceremony, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president and former union minister Prof Saifuddin Soz on Saturday welcomed Pakistan Prime Minister’s nod to attend the function on May 26.“I don’t know the reasons and the spirit behind Mr Modi’s invitations to SAARC heads. But the decision taken by Pakistan Prime Minister is welcome and courageous because despite receiving threats from the extremist elements in Pakistan, he accepted to invitation and decided to attend the ceremony,” Soz told. The PCC president said that Sharif’s decision is an extra ordinary gesture because there was tremendous pressure on him from the extremist elements not to attend Modi’s swearing in ceremony. “I don’t know because it has never happened in past why Mr Modi’s invited SAARC heads. May be people in the country think it is a good gesture,” Soz said when asked to explain the motives behind Modi’s invitation.
