It is an alpine valley covered with snow clad mountains and the meadows of Pine and Fir. It lies 13 km (8.1 mi) south of Charari Sharief, a town in Central Kashmiri's Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. One of its side is situated at the bank of Doodganga River which is a tributary of Jehlum River. It is located in the Pir Panjal peaks, a sub range of Himalaya. The Peaks are: the Sunset Peak and the Tatakooti Peak for which the expeditions lead from this hill station. It lies at an altitude of 2,396 m (7,861 ft) above sea level.Another 4 km trek which leads to a small lake called Nilnag, famous for its blue water.10 km trek leads to the frozen lake in Sang-e-Safed valley, which is mostly covered by ice even during the summer. Other tourist activities include horse riding, fishing, skiing during winter and photography.
How to Reach Yousmarg
Yusmarg is easily accessed from Srinagar or Srinagar Airport the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, 47 km. The drive in under 2 hours by car or bus leads through Charari Sharief town. During winter the road sometimes gets closed due to snowfall and remains cut off from the Kashmir Valley for weeks.The nearest railway station is situated in Ompora town of Budgam district, 42Km to Yusmarg

About 5 km downhill from Yousmarg is the beautiful Nilnag lake, with water that is pure blue in colour. There is a entry fee to the park While entering Yusmarg a small reservoir will be at your left side. Water from distance snow capped mountains gets stored here and works like a catch dam.
Horse ride
Horse rates are highly reasonable compared to rates in other tourist places of Kashmir valley. Here you can hire pony to different locations around Yusmarg, you can walk also. You can take a pony ride ( or walk ) to Doodganga.As per tourism officials, the best time to visit Yousmarg is between May and September, but I believe that Yousmarg can attract tourists throughout the year just as Gulmarg does. Yousmarg gets heavy snowfall during winters and spots like Sang-e-Safed remain snow clad throughout the year.The Author believes There are ample possibilities of making Yousmarg a hotspot for winter games likes skiing and others.Yousmarg has great potential as a tourist attraction. A Gondola ride from Yousmarg to Doodh Pathri or to Nilnag or to Sang-e-Safed may prove highly appealing to nature lovers
What you miss there while visiting
Despite being one of the major tourist attractions, Yousmarg lacks even basic amenities. The electricity and water supply is erratic. There are no bins or garbage disposal machines. the tourist place is without internet and has eratic phone connectivity is without bank and ATM.
