To make the people aware about the importance of right to vote and to encourage them to participate in elections, Additional Chief Administrator JDA cum ERO for 36- Jalandhar North Aseembly Constituency Anupam Kaler on Friday flagged off an cycle rally from Shiv Jyoti Public School.The ACA said that the students especially youngsters would play an instrumental role in awakening the people about their voting rights.She said that the initiative was a part of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative of the district administration to encourage the voters to participate in the polls.While expressing hopes, she added that such activities would act as a catalyst to make the people, especially youngsters, aware of the need for enrolling them as voters in democratic system and about their voting rights.Kaler further said that this would also help in sensitizing the youth to be active partners in the democratic system. She said that as India was a youthful nation with a sizeable chunk of its population above the age of 18 years it was need of the hour to ensure that every youth registers himself as voter so that a new and progressive India could be carved out. She said that for it the basic necessity was that the youth must come forward for enrolling themselves as voters in the country.
