The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar today chaired a meeting of concerned officers at Dak Bungalow here to take stock of the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), a centrally sponsored programme to provide potable drinking water to every rural household.On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion on the subject was held wherein it was informed that door to door census was conducted in all eligible areas during which several aspects viz. functional household tap connections, quality supply, working quantity requirement etc were ascertained so as to explore means and measures for its effective implementation.The meeting was also informed about the current status and position that has been recorded in the district.After taking a threadbare review, the DC complimented the concerned agencies for recording better results with respect to the implementation of the scheme and said that there is a need to achieve saturation for which he directed to work with added zeal and enthusiasm. He also emphasized to work in coordination and cohesion and ensure that every school, health institution, ICDS centre and other vital institution is covered under JJM.Meanwhile, concerned officers highlighted several issues and bottlenecks that are impeding its proper implementation and sought that these bottlenecks should be sorted out in a time bound manner. The DC assured that all the issues shall be redressed for achieving the desired results in a stipulated timeline.Joint Director Planning, SE JJM, Chief Education officer, ACD and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
