Meetings of the Senate and Syndicate were conducted both in the Hybrid mode with a large number of eminent personalities attending the meetings. The eminent among them were S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Cabinet Minister, Punjab, Prof.Ved Prakash, Former Chairman UGC, Prof. S.S. Johl, former Chancellor Central University of Punjab, Prof. Mohammad Miyan, former Vice Chancellor of Central University of Odisha, S. Paramjit Singh, IAS, Special Secretary, Government of Punjab, S. Bhagwant Pal Singh Sachar and many others.Prof.Ved Prakash, former Chairman UGC and former Vice Chancellor of NEUPA and Prof. Mohammad Miyan, former Vice Chancellor, Central University of Odisha and former Member UGC were the academicians who became members of the Syndicate from Senate.The major change was allowing Ph.D. by Publication besides Ph.D. by Monograph. This would enhance the Research achievements of the university by allowing students to publish their research while pursuing the Ph.Ds. Already the H-Index of the university has increased from 64 in 2017 to 113 in 2021 which is amongst the highest in the region. The increase in H-Index would help the university to garner more grant for research activities.
The University has been attracting large number of foreign students from various countries like African countries, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives etc. as they have different culture than India, it was proposed that a separate International Hostel be constructed for them. This yeara record number of around 300 students from foreign countries will get admission in the university which is probably the highest again in the region.The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab has launched the online courses for Indian Diaspora abroad in the language of Punjabi. S. Navdeep Singh Suri, Distinguished fellow and Director Centre for Diplomacy and former Ambassador to various countries has been conferred with the status of Professor of Eminence.The Syndicate also approved the starting of Guru Gobind Singh College, Jandiala (Jalandhar) as a constituent college with a substantial Grant-in-Aid from Government of Punjab. The Syndicate also approved Ar. Paramjit Singh Mahoora Memorial Award for the Best Architect. The Syndicate also approved the establishment of BhagatKabir Chair recently announced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab.All the members of Syndicate and Senate were highly appreciative of the achievements this university has done in the last four years of the tenure of Prof. Sandhu.
