Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has sanctioned development funds to the tune of RS. 42.79 crore for the holistic development in the Kandi Areas of Hoshiarpur district.Disclosing this here today Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora said that with this landmark decision of Punjab Government these areas would give a new look with availability of all basic amenities. Accompanied by Chabbewal MLA Dr. Raj Kumar, the Industries and Commerce Minister stated that these funds would be utilised for development works especially in the sectors namely healthcare, education, water supply and sanitation, agriculture etc. The scarcity of potable water will be solved as the state Government has made a plan to provide clean drinking water in all the requisite areas, said the Minister adding that the basic infrastructure would also be strengthened with construction of link/approach roads, tourist centers, bridges etc in kandi belts. The small scale industries with local inputs would also be encouraged so that the industrial boost could be ensured, he added.Giving breakup of funds to be allotted for respective constituencies, the Minister said that out of total 42.79 crore a sum of Rs. 456.57 lakh would be incurred in Kandi Areas falling in the Hoshiapur segment while Rs. 409.50 lakh and Rs. 424.05 lakh would be given to Sham Churasi and Chabbewal areas respectively. Similarly, the Kandi Areas falling in Dasuya will get funds to the tune of Rs. 1059.90 lakh, Urmar Tanda Rs. 232.78, Garhshankar 686.78 and Rs. 1009.42 lakh for Mukerian. He said that these areas would also witness major fillip in development of agriculture and its allied sectors.Hailing the decision of Punjab Government and Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Chabbewal MLA Dr. Raj Kumar said that this step aimed at the all round development of Kandi areas will eliminate several problems being faced by the residents of these areas. He said that the efforts of Punjab Government would surely ease the life of people residing in kandi areas besides upgrading their lifestyle in time to come. Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait was also present on this occasion.Thanking Punjab Government and Captain Amarinder Singh, Political Advisor of Chief Minister and Urmar MLA Sangat Singh Giljian, MLA Sham Churasi Pawan Kumar Adia, Dasuya MLA Arun Dogra and Mukerian MLA Indu Bala said that this decision of Punjab Government would definitely give a big push to the overall development of Kandi region in the district.
