District Administration is facilitating maximum COVID vaccination for the eligible and in times to come will further intensify the vaccination drive, said Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan while talking to media during his visit to Derabassi Sub Divisional Hospital. Deputy Commissioner accompanied by ADC(G) Aashika Jain visited Derabassi and Zirakpur to take stock of COVID vaccination and testing being conducted at Sub Divisional Level while Rajiv Kumar Gupta,ADC(D) checked Kharar sub division for the same.Offering to hold a Special COVID Vaccination Camp for Media representatives of the District, Dayalan said that like all essential services media houses have remained open during the pandemic. Media has played a vital role in information dissemination on COVID-19 and is no less than any frontline worker. “The administration will provide dedicated vaccination teams at district headquarters as well as at sub divisional level for vaccination of media,” said he and added that “all that media needs to do for it is to submit a list of persons desirous for the same with their mobile and Aadhar number and Date of Birth to respective SDM, thereafter vaccination will be facilitated.”Replying to query related to bed occupancy in the wake of rising number of positive cases, Deputy Commissioner informed that there is a lot pressure on the health infrastructure in the district and as of now about 80% of the available beds are occupied but constant vigil is being maintained so that critical patients face no hassle in admission to a suitable health facility.Reiterating the need for vigorous testing and vaccination, Deputy Commissioner said that anybody feeling symptomatic must instantaneously undertake COVID test. Besides, vaccination should be undertaken without fail. The only mantra to safeguard against COVID19 is vaccination, said he and added that it is possible that a vaccinated person may also get infected but it is a well observed fact that in such cases the severity of viral infection is much less.
