Deputy Commissioner Patiala Kumar Amit visited Samania Gate to inspect the ongoing work of laying granite cobble stone on the road near Samania Gate and sandstone cobbles on the pavement under the first phase of Heritage Street to be built around the heritage fort Quila Mubarak of Patiala.Accompanied by Chief Administrator, Patiala Development Authority, Surabhi Malik, he met PUDA officials and representatives of Universal Fabricators, the agency hired to complete the work and he was apprised of the progress of the work on Heritage Street.Mr. Kumar Amit said that the work on the first phase of the Two KM long stretch of Heritage Street, from Samania Gate to A-Tank was in full swing and it was directed to be completed on time.  Emphasis is being laid on the completion of the first phase of work in such a way that it could not hamper the daily routine of residents, shopkeepers and commuters, he added.

He said that Heritage Street was a dream project of the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and was being personally monitored by him and at the same time, MP from Patiala Mrs. Preneet Kaur was also reviewing it from time to time to get it complete within the stipulated time.  He said that due to heavy traffic including shops and accommodation on this road, all the works were being carried out keeping in view the plight of the people.The PDA Chief Administrator, Surabhi Malik, who reviews the progress of the work on a daily basis, said, "Granite cobbles are being installed on the heritage route and sandstone cobbles on the sidewalks," by adding that all the buildings will be decorated with the same color paint and corten steel to give a heritage look to the road besides the installation of heritage street lights.  She further said that the work of laying sewerage pipes, drinking water pipes, rain water and underground power cables were being completed here before the construction of the road so that no further breakage would have to be done on the heritage street later.  PUDA Executive Engineers, XEN Ajay Garg and Navtaj Singh and other officials were also present on the occasion.
