On just the second day of taking over the mayoral post, Mohali Mayor Jiti Sidhu has been in constant action. Yesterday, Mayor Jiti Sidhu visited the sewerage pipe project being laid  on the main road of Mohali and instructed the authorities to start the work immediately. Today he visited the dumping ground along with other officials. Mayor Jeeti Sidhu said that the contractor company Eco Stan would process the 2-3 lakh tonnes of garbage lying in the dumping ground within a year and convert it into plain ground. Senior deputy mayor Amrik Singh Somal and deputy mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi were also present along with other officials.On this occasion Mayor instructed the officers to hand over its work order to the company today and get the work started by installing machines here within a month.It may be recalled that Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu had taken the demand of the industrialists and the residents of Phase 8B of the area very seriously and hence this contract is finalised.

Corporation officials told the mayor that two large machines would be installed by the same company to dispose of 50 tonnes of garbage every hour. In this way about six hundred tons of garbage will be disposed in one day. Officials said that regular work orders are being issued to the company today, which has acquired the work at a cost of Rs 4.35 crore at 9 per cent less. Mayor Amarjit Singh Jiti Sidhu assured the people of Mohali that the work would be completed within a year and it would clean up the entire area which would not only benefit the industrialists and the people of the residential area but also the surroundings of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial in Chapparchiri will also be beautified which will be a memorable gift for the people of Mohali.Mayor Jiti Sidhu said that under the leadership of Health Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu all the development works of Mohali Municipal Corporation were being carried out expeditiously and responsibly and no negligence would be allowed in the quality of development works. He said that he was personally reviewing the works with his team so that better facilities could be provided to the people and all the promises made by the Municipal Corporation could be fulfilled.Municipal Commissioner Kamal Garg, SE Sanjay Kanwar, Axian Harpreet Singh and other officials were present on the occasion.
