Four-time Councillor Surinder Kumar Shinda on Monday sworn in as the Mayor of the Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation in the presence of Industries & Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora and Food & Civil Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu. Councillor from Ward No 3 Parveen Saini and Councillor from Ward No 11 Ranjeet Chaudhary have been elected as Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor.The newly elected Mayor Surinder Kumar Shinda had earlier served three-time as councillor and presently he is representing the Ward No 18, where he registered a victory by getting 1032 votes. After being elected as Mayor Surinder Kumar Shinda thanked Cabinet Minister Sunder Sham Arora and all councillor’s for giving him a huge responsibility and said he would left no stone unturned to touch new heights of City’s development vis-a-vis ensuring availability of all basic amenities. He said that besides ongoing projects the new works would also be initiated in the areas where needed by ensuring timely completion of these works.Earlier, Commissioner Jalandhar Division Gurpreet Kaur Sapra presided over the oath taking ceremony besides administering the oath of office and secrecy to newly elected Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor. Apart from all Councillors, the Commissioner Municipal Corporation Amit Kumar Panchal was also present on the occasion.The Councillor from ward no 14 Balwinder Kumar Bindi has been elected as chairman of Finance Committee with members namely Rajni Dadwal councillor from ward no 1 and councillor Kulwinder Kaur Kapoor representing ward no 45. Prior to the election of Mayor, the Food & Civil Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Industries & Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora held a meeting with all councillors and gave them a call to get the development works done in their respective areas to facilitate the residents of Hoshiarpur.  

WILL WORK IK UNISON FOR UNPRECEDENTED DEVELOPMENT: Congratulating all 50 councillors along newly elected Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor, the Industries & Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora asserted that the Hoshiarpur would also witness unprecedented and massive development in time to come with the support and cooperation of all councillors and residents. Development at various levels is already going on full pace, said the Minister adding that the requisite projects would be launched in months to come so that the basic amenities as well as modern infrastructure could be ensured.Thanking the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for 50 percent reservation for women in Urban Local Bodies, the Minster said that the functioning of Municipal Corporation would be finetuned besides eliminating the discrepancies, if any. The foremost priority is to ensure completion of projects in a stipulated time frame to give a new facelift to Hoshiarpur. 

BHARAT BHUSHAN ASHU CALLS COUNCILLORS TO FULFILL ASPIRATIONS OF PEOPLE: The Food & Civil Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu while congratulating the Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor as well as all councillors to fulfil the aspirations of people by getting the needful works done in their respective wards. He pointed out that the Councillors always play a significant role in the development works, building and strengthening of infrastructure vis-a-vis ensuring quality works so that they should work with utmost dedication and hard work. He said that the Punjab Government was providing adequate funds for development works in urban areas and they should make a plan of their wards to utilise these funds properly, which would further give a new look to Hoshiarpur. He said that they should prioritise short and long term projects in order to accelerate the pace of development in the city.
