DDC Kupwara reviews arrangements for ‘Catch the Rain’ Abhiyan

The District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Imam Din today chaired a meeting of District Level Committee on Jal Jeevan Mission (DLCJJM) to review the arrangements for implementation of Phase-III of Jal Shakti Abhiyan ‘Catch the Rain’ in the district.The ‘Catch the Rain’ Abhiyan will start from March 22, on the eve of World Water Day and will culminate on November 30, this year. The meeting held threadbare discussion on the activities to be carried out during the Jal Shakti Abhiyan ‘Catch the Rain’ in the district.The activities  discussed include installation of Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting System (RWHS) on all buildings with special focus on Government buildings, maintenance of old buildings of new Chak Dams/Ponds, enumerating, geo-tagging and inventorising all water bodies in the district, besides, plans for water conservation, desilting of tanks and rejuvenation of small rivers and rivulets were also discussed. On the occasion, the DDC directed the concerned officers to ensure all the necessary measures are taken for effective implementation of the ‘Catch the Rain’ Abhiyan and better results are yielded on the ground. Among others, JD Planning, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, ACD, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti Division Kupwara and Handwara besides other members of the Committee were present in the meeting.
