Exposing the loot being done by private players with the farmers of the country, RTI activist and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Ropar district president advocate Dinesh Chadha and party’s state media coordinator Digvijay Dhanju said that as per the recent RTI documents, the money that was meant for the farmers and their compensation in the case of crop loss was being pocketed by corporate houses close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing a press conference convened at the party headquarters here on Friday, Chadha said that the private players were looting the farmers of our country and were earning out of their misery. He said that as per the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, compensation to farmers in the case of crop loss was being provided by the Central government but with the new corporate friendly reign of PM Modi, the insurance to the crops were now being provided by corporate houses. The central government, state government and the farmers who opt for this insurance pay premium, but when it comes to compensation, many farmers were left penniless.Chadha said that the farmers have been protesting against these three black laws because these laws are designed to benefit the corporate houses. However, the corporatisation of agriculture had started before the introduction of these laws. Schemes like the PM Kisan Bima Fasal Yojana had already started selling farmer's safety to the corporates. Chadha said the RTI documents show that over the last four years, these corporate companies had earned a profit of more than  20,000 crore from this scheme. "Out of this, the biggest gainer is Modi's master and funder-in-chief Reliance Industries. Reliance industries over the last four years has earned a profit of more than ₹ 3,000 crore," he added.

Referring to the data obtained by him through his RTI application, Chadha said that the Government of India, in the last 4 years, had paid ₹ 44,183 crores as its share of Premium. Out of this amount around 50% was pocketed by the private companies as profit. Looking at Modi's funder-in-chief particularly, the Government of India paid  2642 crores as premium to Reliance in the last 4 years. The company recorded a profit of  2862 crore, showing that the entire money given by the government went into the coffers of Ambani and not a single penny was spared for the suffering farmer. All in all, 73% of the total premium paid by the Government was pocketed as profits by the Private Players.Narendra Modi has also shifted the entire burden of paying the farmers compensation onto the public insurance companies. While the private players were enjoying unlimited profit out of public money, public insurance companies like Oriental and New India are facing a cumulative loss of ₹ 3122 crores. The private companies earned ₹ 13.7 crores per day and ₹ 1.7 crore per hour as profit through this scheme, while 3 farmers were dying everyday protesting for their rights. Only in Modi's world will this be a norm. This is utter disregard for human life and a disrespect to humanity and society.Chadha further said that this money which was meant for the farmers, the money that was meant to protect them from financial shock, was now being pocketed by corporate giants. "Forget PM Modi's promise of doubling farmer's income, he has been busy doubling the incomes of his capitalist friends," he said. Chadha said that hundreds of farmers had committed suicide because of the financial burden they were put under because of crop loss. He said that hundreds of families had been ruined, but the central government does not seem to care as their sole objective seems to be to keep their corporate friends happy. Chadha said that none of these governments care for the farmers and feel their pain. "But AAP will stand shoulder to shoulder with the farmers and will fight for their rights. We will fight to make their agitation stronger," he added.
