The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer today inaugurated six days ‘Entrepreneurship Development Programme’ for SC/STs on Beekeeping at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Malangpora, here.The programme has been organized by KVK/ Extension Training Centre Pulwama under the aegis of J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board.Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the Bee keeping (apiculture) is one of the subsectors of this big sector of rural economy in the Valley and has a positive impact on both horticulture and agriculture production.He said Beekeeping has remained a tradition in rural areas which is learnt by people from generation to generation but in todays era the sector has got immense boost as young entrepreneurs have adopted this sector as trade following a big push with efforts put in by scientists and staff in this field at SKUAST-Kashmir.He urged participants to acquaint themselves with modern techniques of beekeeping to earn their livelihood as  beekeeping can be a vibrant source of employment for them.Programme Coordinator KVK Malangpora, Scientists of KVK, Experts from SKUAST and a large number of farmers were present on the occasion.
