Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today conducted an extensive tour of Bagoona (Samba), and held a meeting with heads of various departments to review the arrangements for "Azaadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav"- India@75 for celebrating 75 years of Independence.Pertinent to mention, the Lieutenant Governor has directed for organizing various activities across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir particularly at Birth places of freedom fighters and martyrs to mark the 75th year of Independence.The Grand event will be organized at Bagoona village of district Samba, the birth place of Son of Soil and Savior of Jammu and Kashmir, Brigadier Rajinder Singh. The event would be inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.The Divisional Commissioner asked the concerned officers to start preparations for setting up of stage, sanitation in and around the venue, rehearsals for cultural programs.The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned officers to ensure participation of school children, volunteers of NSS, NCC and others. He also urged the District Development Chairperson, Block Development Chairpersons, PRIs to participate in the national event along with the local public.The Youth Services and Sports Department was directed to finalize the route for motorBike, Cycle Rallies in the district. The Traffic department was directed to identify parking sites for smooth flow of traffic during the event.RTC department was directed for providing an adequate number of vehicles for transportation of school, College students and public. The Information Department was asked to ensure installation of the PA system, printing of Banners and wide publicity of the event.The Divisional Commissioner also directed the concerned officers for seating arrangements besides inviting the relatives and family members of Brigadier Rajinder Singh in the event.The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Samba, Rohit Khajuria; Director Information, Rahul Pandey; SSP Samba; Director General Youth Services and Sports, Additional Secretary, Cultural Academy, Director Floriculture, DDC Chairperson, BDC chairperson, besides senior functionaries of PWD, JPDCL, Jal Shakti, Traffic, Army, Hospitality and Protocol, Transport and other concerned.
