Wreath Laying At Asafwala War Memorial During Swarnim Vijay Varsh Celebrations

To commemorate 50 years of the decisive victory of Indian Armed Forces in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, The Victory Flame arrived at Fazilka Military Station on 23 February 2021 from Faridkot Military Station. The Victory Flame will be stationed here till 03 March 2021. To honour the contributions of our fallen soldiers and Veterans, numerous ceremonies have been planned. The most significant ceremony amongst these was that of Wreath Laying at AsafwalaShaheedonki Samadhi war memorial and Fazilka War Memorial which was held on 24 February 2021.Asafwala Shaheedonki Samadhi is a sacred memorial and war museum in remembrance of the martyrs of 1971 war between India-Pak and is managed by “Shaheedonki Samadhi Committee" Asafwala, Fazilka, with cooperation of civil and Army administration. The memorial has a special importance to Fazilka highlighting the valour, dedication and sacrifice displayed by the gallant soldiers of the Brigade in defeating the enemy. Since then the Brigade has been known as “Saviours of Fazilka”Various Army personnel, Para military personnel, prominent civil administration executives and office bearers of AsafwalaShaheedon Ki Samadhi committee, war veterans and Veernaris were present at the memorial.Station Commander, Fazilka Military Station, Mr Davinder Ghubaya MLA, Mr Arvind Pal Singh Sandhu, District Commissioner, Fazilka, Mr VP Badola, DIG, Sector HQ BSF were amongst the prominent personalities who laid wreath to honour the supreme sacrifice made by the soldiers.
