Punjab Bird Fest 2021 in Ropar concluded with flying colours

Punjab Bird Fest 2021 was concluded today after a series of bird walks & a two-day Photo Exhibition. Ropar Wildlife Division, Department of Forests and Wildlife Preservation, Punjab had organized 3rd edition of Punjab Bird Fest in Ropar which came to end with a valedictory function. Celebrated at Bird Watch Centre, the event was studded with significant & celebrated personalities. Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh KPS Rana was the chief guest who was accompanied by Mr Manish Tewari, MP Shri Anandpur Sahib. Officials from Department of Forests and Wildlife Preservation, Punjab also were present at the function. Sh R K Mishra, IFS CWLW, Punjab, Sh Basanta Raj Kumar IFS, CCF Wildlife, Sh Gnana Prakash, IFS CF, Wildlife, Mr Mahavir Singh to name a few.A two-day celebration function became the talk of the town not only for its beauty but also for its importance in increasing awareness about wildlife and their importance. While Sh Rana was appreciative about the efforts of the department, Mr Tewari said that Bird Fest should certainly be celebrated every year. Talking to school students about the importance of wildlife, Sh Rana spread the message of animal love and improving the quality of our ecosystem. Dr Monika Yadav, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Ropar said that it is a dream come true to be able to reach out to the wide audience from students to teachers to youngsters. She released the report of current year regarding Survey Census in Ropar & Nangal region which depicts the number of migratory species and count of birds. She also showcased a documentary A/V on biodiversity of Ropar and the balance between human civilization and wildlife biodiversity. She said that Ropar is an ideal place to observe birds as it constitutes as an important site for migratory as well as native birds.Department of Department of Forests and Wildlife Preservation, Punjab also announced winners of the painting and photography competitions who were felicitated on the occasion. P D Joju won the photography competition, while Vani Khanna claimed the 2nd prize, followed by Sahil Kumar of DAV Public School who received 3rd place. In painting competition, Jasmine Kaur of St. Carmel received 1st prize, followed by Simranpreet Kaur of Kids Paradise who won 2nd prize and Anika from Khalsa Sr. Sec. School who received 3rd prize. Special prizes were given to Amjad Khan of Gandhi Memorial National Senior Secondary School and Garima Chauhan from Holy Family Convent School for their extra ordinary talent and outstanding performance in drawing. All the photo exhibitors, nature enthusiasts and other were also felicitated for their contribution in Punjab Bird Fest 2021.
