DC flags-off exposure tour for sheep breeders at Ganderbal

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today flagged-off a day-long exposure-cum-training tour of 25 progressive sheep breeders to SKUAST Shuhama from Mini Secretariat Ganderbal.The tour was organized by the Sheep Husbandry Department Ganderbal under the centrally sponsored Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme with an aim to provide awareness to the breeders regarding the scientific management and rearing of sheep.Earlier, the DC interacted with the sheep breeders and urged them to get themselves acquainted with the latest scientific technologies through such exposure-cum-training programs.Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that district Ganderbal has huge potential for the breeding and rearing of sheep and can provide entrepreneurship and employment avenues to youth and such programs are conducted to encourage breeders and attract educated youths towards entrepreneurship in sheep husbandry sector.He also appreciated the Sheep Husbandry Department Ganderbal for organizing such programs and urged District Sheep Husbandry Officer to organize awareness programs about the schemes available with the department so that the benefits of the schemes percolate to the deserving beneficiary.
