Sensitization programme on FRA held at Kulgam

A daylong programme to sensitise District Development Councilors, Block Development Council Chairpersons, Sarpanchs and Panchs about their role in implementation of the Forest Right Act  (FRA)-2006, Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act-2006 was held here today.The programme was organised under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat by District Panchayat Office.On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner briefed in detail the plan of action and road map for implementation of Forest Rights Act in the district.He explained the procedures to be followed in a time bound manner as per the Forest Rights Act/Rules at the level of Gram Sabha, Sub Divisional level and District level Committees to recognize and vest the forest rights to the forest dwelling Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers.The Deputy Commissioner emphasized on the need to work with patience, passion and full preparation for successful implementation of the Act.Later, DC highlighted the role of PRI members in implementation of various schemes and programmes.The programme among others was attended by District Panchayat Officer, Divisional Forest Officer and other concerned officers and officials.
