The Coronavirus pandemic affected the downtrodden sections of society the most. People who were living hand-to-mouth had a ton of problems already and the pandemic made them even more vulnerable. Social work and NGOs have provided the most help during these times. In the context of Rajasthan and Barmer, social activist Ishwar Choudhary is of particular importance because the kind of donation and regular help that he provided to the people of Barmer is absolutely unparalleled.Ishwar Choudhary was engaged in regularly meeting disadvantaged and underprivileged people of Barmer and providing them with necessary tools to stay safe and hygienic during the pandemic: masks, gloves, sanitizers and soaps. Not only did he make these items available to people but also carried out awareness drives which were informative in nature. Another huge issue was the food problem. Ishwar rented out a place to store groceries and staples and gave them out to everyone who couldn't really afford to purchase them from the market. There was a relief kit that Ishwar Choudhary created himself which consisted of rice, sugar, spices, milk and vegetables. He shortlisted families that had received zero to negligible help since the lockdown and helped them with these kits.Ishwar Choudhary said, "As a social activist and worker, it is of prime importance to figure out the "how" of helping people. In Barmer, I didn't want to give people a bag of grains and just leave. I know that doesn't last long. This is why I was going in and around the city, regularly. I have ensured that everyone had enough medical and food supplies throughout the duration of the lockdown. I'm also glad that youngsters wanted to team up with me and help the underprivileged."
