Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu distributed Bonus checks to the top three Milk Producers Cooperative Societies which had secured top three positions in each of the 12 zones of Mohali.Mr. Sidhu said that verka milk dairy plays an important role in providing the milk market to the milk producers of the Punjab by value addition and marketing of produce, but it needs to do more to enhance the reach of its products in other states also.Mr Sidhu said that in order to increase the marketing of Verka Dairy products, the cooperation of marketing companies should be sought and its products should be extended to major cities including the capital of the country as it will benefit the farmer and will be further helpful in improving the Dairy farming in Punjab. He said that Markfed, Cooperative Banks and Cooperative Milk Producers are the major contributors in the economy of Punjab in the cooperative movement being run by the Punjab Government under the able action of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh.Speaking on the occasion Mr. Mohan Singh Dummewal, Chairman, Milk Union Ropar said that since the commencement of cooperative milk work in Punjab, the economic condition of the members of various societies has improved a lot. About 1293 Milk Producers Cooperative Societies affiliated to Verka Mohali Dairy are running profitably and distributing profits to the members every year. Apart from the price of milk, Verka Mohali Dairy also pays price difference, bonus and dividend to its milk producers every year.He said that in order to increase milk production and to improve dairy farming, Verka Mohali dairy provides artificial insemination vaccines, green fodder seeds, cattle feed and mineral mixtures, milking machines on subsidies to the cooperative society members.
