The Senior Superintendent of police Navjot Singh Mahal on Wednesday directed all police officers including SHOs to resolve the untraced cases at the earliest besides implementing night curfew in the letter and spirit across district amid COVID-19 restrictions.While holding crime meeting here at Police Lines, Navjot Singh Mahal also appealed the people to ensure strict adherence to the COVID related advisories in larger public interest. He instructed the police officer to act against those found violating night curfew. It was also apprised in the meeting that on the December 1 night as many as 12 cases under section 188 of the IPC had been registered against the violators. Mahal also directed the Station House Officers to maintain law & order in their respective jurisdictions besides launching crackdown against drugs.Meanwhile, Navjot Singh Mahal also informed  that the Gurhshankar Police under the supervision of ASP Tushar Gupta arrested two person with 1350 intoxicant injection from a secret compartment made in the backside of the car which they were moving in. He said that SHO Police Station Garhshankar Iqbal Singh and Inspector Special Cell Surjit Singh while patrolling at Chak Routan try to stop indigo car no PB12-L-6240 but they didn’t stop and driver tried to escape from police party. The police had nabbed them near dry drain where their car got struck. During search of the car, the police recovered 1350 intoxicant injections from a secret compartment. The accused have been identified as Ashok Kumar of Bharowal in police station Mahilpur and his accomplice Kamaljit Singh of Rakra Bet in Balachaur. The Police party recovered as many as 290 injections of buperenorphine, 410 injections of buperenorphine rexogesic and 650 of avil pharamine. A case under section 22 (c)/61/55 of NDPS act has been registered in Garhshankar police station, Pertinently, Ashok Kumar had already been booked by the Nawanshahr Sadar Police Station under section 15/61/85 NDPS act with recovery of two quintal poppy husk and a case under section 22/25/29/61/85 NDPS Act was registered against Kamaljit Singh with recovery of 20 injections.
