The Punjab state would get six more Sainik Vocational Training Center in coming time besides introducing new welfare schemes for the wards of ex-servicemen.This was stated by Bibi Jagir Kaur, Defence Services Welfare Minister, Punjab after reviewing the ongoing development works at Sainik Bhawan situated here in Sector 21. Bibi Jagir Kaur, accompanied by senior officers of the Defence Services Department, asked the officers to expedite the ongoing development works.  She said that as 7 sainik vocational training centers were already operational across the state, the proposal of setting-up 6 more new centers has been prepared and the finalization would also be completed soon. 

She said that the wards of ex-army officers/officials were already getting free training for professional courses including Computer, Stenography, pre-recruitment and pre-commission etc so the wards of ex-armymen could get employment. She said that the State government has initiated a scheme under which the candidate selected for NDA, IMA and CDA would get a scholarship of Rs 1 lakh.Principal Secretary, Defence Services Deapartment Mr. C. Roul informed the minister about the ongoing development projects including Sainik Sadan Mohali, Maharaja Ranjit Singh War Memorial, Ludhiana and families of martyrs and bravery awards. He also informed that the Directorate is going to publish a book on the families, who are constantly serving or served in Defence Services for three generations besides preparing a coffee table book on the all war memorials in Punjab.
