Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar has issued strict directives to the field officers to further intensify their crackdown on drug smugglers, and bootleggers making it clear to them that they would be held accountable for any activity of drugs smuggling in the city.The directives were issued by the Commissioner of Police, who was accompanied by DCPs Balkar Singh, Naresh Dogra, and Arun Saini during a meeting of all additional deputy commissioners of police (ADCPs), Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), and SHOs of the Commissionerate police at police lines on Wednesday.The meeting was convened by the Commissioner of Police to review the drive against drug smugglers, bootleggers and security preparedness keeping in view the upcoming festival season.Bhullar issued stringent instructions for all field officers to ensure that supply lines of drugs in their respective areas are completely plugged out. Reiterating firm commitment of the state government and Director General of Police Dinkar Gupta to wipe out scourge of drugs from state, he warned the officers against any complacency on the issue. 

The Commissioner of Police asked officials to expedite the process of freezing the properties of drug smugglers booked under NDPS act.He told the officers in unequivocal terms that the field officers at various levels will be held accountable for any activity of drug smuggling in their respective areas. He ordered all field officers to carry out systematic and detailed investigations into drug cases so that this menace can be completely wiped out. He further asked them to identify habitual offenders of drug cases and to initiate proceedings of preventive action as per laws against them.Meanwhile, he also reviewed the security arrangements in view of upcoming festival season and asked officials to beef up security at various points in the city especially at the public places. He further asked the patrolling teams to step up their patrolling in the various localities of the city so that people could enjoy the festivities without worrying of security concerns.Prominent among present occasion included ADCP Vatsala Gupta and others were present.
