Leading the State consecutively for the second time, District Mohali has facilitated maximum jobs in the 6th Mega Job Fair that concluded here today, informed Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan.Divulging the details, he said that despite COVID as many as 10,800 jobs have been facilitated during the fair by organizing virtual interviews as well as that on employer’s site and in the premises of District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises(DBEE).“We are proud to inform that our special focus this year was on jobs for poorest of poor and we managed to provide 3000 jobs for youth belonging to these families,’’ said Dayalan. He informed that to cover this segment ten poorest households were identified in every village of the district and the skill and qualification of the youth from these families were uploaded on the employment portal. Fortunately, a sizeable number of unemployed boys and girls from these families have secured jobs. “We will continue our efforts so that state government’s promise of job in every household fructifies,” said he.Pertinently, last year as against the district target of providing 6000 jobs, SAS Nagar facilitated 13,369 jobs and this year owing to pandemic, against the reduced target of 3000 jobs district administration facilitated more than three times over and above the target. The range of job profiles includes high end managerial jobs to basic helper level jobs.Joy knew no bounds for Jaswinder Singh, son of MGNREGA worker who acquired a Mechanical Diploma and struggled for long for a job and finally through DBEE got placement at Akxo Nobel Mohali (Chemical Factory for paints) with a salary to the tune of Rs.10,000 per month. Chandar Mohan with a Diploma in Fire & Safety also got job in the same company. Similarly, Harshdeep Singh fresh B.Tech pass out got engagement letter from Quicklabs (IT Company) at an annual package of Rs. 4.5 lac and Varidhi Jaiwal, B.tech Computer Science got job in Tech Mahindra at an annual package of Rs. 3.5 lac. “We are thankful to State Government and the District Administration for hand-holding’’, expressed all in unison.
