A special camp for Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) was organized by District Red Cross Society in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO) at District Administrative Complex Mohali.Presiding over the camp, Mrs Aashika Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) informed that it is a first of its kind camp in which assistive aids have been provided free of cost to the physically challenged people. A total of 38 beneficiaries of the district were provided with 60 different assistive equipment valuing Rs 2.88 Lakh. Aids and appliance distributed included 12 Tricycles, 6 Wheel Chairs, 01 Cerebal Palsey (CP) Chair, 10 Crutches, 2 Walking Sticks, 26 Hearing Aid with 156 spare batteries, 01 Smart Cane and 02 Large elbow crutch.Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner motivated the divyang to rise above the handicaps, develop a positive attitude and live life to the fullest. Hoping that the assistive devices would help them overcome physical ordeals and boost their self-confidence, she wished them all the best in life.

More camps will be organized in times to come for distribution of Aids and Assistive Devices, said ADC and called upon Divyangjan and their family members to get enrolled for Unique ID Cards for Divyangjan which are valid all over India.Mr. Yashpal Sharma Assistant Commissioner (General) was also present on the occasion.As a token only 5 persons were handed over the assistive equipment while the rest would be provided in staggered manner, informed Kamlesh Kaushal , Secretary District Red Cross Society. He said that during the camp social distancing protocol was strictly adhered to.Ashok Kumar Sahu from ALIMCO appreciating the initiative of District Administration said that amidst the prevailing unprecedented situation due to global pandemic COVID-19, the efforts of  District Administration for the welfare of the Divyang is praise worthy. He assured all support from ALIMCO in future ventures.
