Road Safety Committee meeting held at Shopian

A meeting of members of Traffic Management & Road Safety, district officers was convened here today to discuss the formulation and implementation of traffic management plan in district.The meeting was convened in order to make travelling on the roads safe and secure besides reducing the jamming in the district.During the meeting, the District Development Commissioner Shopian, Chaudhary Mohammad Yasin expressed serious concern over the jamming in the district and directed the concerned departments to remain vigilant and take action against traffic violations.He also asked the concerned to install the sign boards to display safety measures of roads and rates for the transport plying through all routes in the district.The DDC directed the ARTO to organize awareness camps on ‘Road safety’ as well as on ‘Traffic rules and Regulations’ for generating awareness among the people.He further directed the CEO to conduct various programmes on Road Safety in order to educate the youth about the importance of helmets and seat belts while driving.The DDC also directed Executive Officer Municipal Committee Shopian to demolish encroachments in the District.The Ex. Engineer R&B was directed to identify space of land for parking purposes in the district within a minimum possible time and also stressed for widening of the roads.Among others Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, ASP, Dy Superintendent of Traffic Police, Tehsildar Shopian, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical officer, Executive Officer Municipality, Ex. Engineer R&B, Ex. Engineer Mughal Road and other officers also attended the meeting
