DDC convenes Public hearing on Ujh Multipurpose Project at Billawar

District Development Commissioner, Kathua, O P Bhagat today convened a Public Hearing with regard to Ujh Multipurpose( 196 MW) Project on River Ujh, here at Mandli, Billawar.Over 25 representatives of families to be affected by the project put forth their demands which were mainly related to their rehabilitation.The people of the area demanded market value for their land which will be acquired for the multipurpose project. The representation made by the locals includes provision of free higher education, electricity, water supply for the families to be displaced for the construction of the project.The demand  for a dedicated  colony for  displaced families with all modern facilities was also projected by the locals. The  demand for  a multipurpose stadium and provision for its maintenance by authorities of the proposed project was prominently projected by the locals. Renaming the project as Panjtirthi Ujh Multipurpose Project was also projected by majority of the representatives.Interacting with the locals, the DDC said that all the issues highlighted by them during the public hearing shall be projected to the higher authorities for their consideration.Regional Director, PCB, Jammu, Dr. Sayeed Naseem Hussain; Chief Engineer RTIC, Jammu Suresh Sabharwal; Chief Engineer JKPDC Manjeet Kotwal; Chief Engineer, Webcost Consultancy Services;  ADC Billawar Sandesh Kumar;  Executive Engineer, RCC Upper Div. RTIC Kathua, Sudesh Kumar and  Executive Engineer, JKPDC, Harjeet Singh were also present at the public hearing.
