In a significant move to provide better health care facilities especially during the current COVID-19 pandemic, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today inspected upgradation work of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Singhpora Kalan into Health and Wellness Centre.On the occasion, DC took a detailed appraisal of pace and progress of the work and it was informed that work on the said PHC is in its final phase and shall be made functional shortly.The DC directed the concerned agencies to speed up the pace of work and said that a better and qualitative health care system especially in present circumstances has been the administration's priority.Dr Itoo also inspected several play fields of the district and interacted with the youth, he directed District Youth Services and Sports officer to provide sports kits to the youth adding that various initiatives are being taken to develop sports infrastructure in the district.Moreover, the DC took review of the feasibility of establishing a Press Club in the district, which has remained the persistent demand of media persons of the district. Later, the DC also inspected the Public Library and discussed various modalities for its relocation as per the demands of the people from different quarters for larger public interest.He urged upon the people to follow all the SOPs and guidelines and stressed upon the senior citizens to stay indoors as they are more vulnerable to the infection.The DC during the visit was accompanied by various concerned officers including President MCB.
