The armies of India and Pakistan exchanged gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) in over one dozen villages of Rajouri and Poonch districts in Jammu division, officials said.Official sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that in the wee hours of Friday at around 03:30 AM, Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked firing and shelling with mortars in Krishna Ghati sector area of Poonch's Mendhar sub division.“Four villages in the area including Mankote came under firing and shelling that continued for over five hours,” they added.Similarly, sources said, at around 08:00 AM, the ceasefire violation took place on Line of Control in Kalal, Baba Khori, Kalsian, Jhanger and Saryah areas of Nowshera sector in Rajouri district.“Pakistan army continued heavy firing and shelling in entire Line of Control sector Nowshera and around eight villages including Deeing, Kalal, Jhanger, Namb, Kadali, Sair, Makdi came under Pak shelling with mortar that continued till late noon hours in the area,” sources divulged.Jammu based spokesman of Indian Army, Lt Col Devander Anand said that in both these areas, Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked firing and shelling. "Pak Army used both small arms as well as mortars and Indian Army retaliated befittingly,” he said.Meanwhile, police authorities said that a domesticated cow sustained splinter injuries in Namb village of Nowshera while no other loss of life or property was reported –(KNO)
