The two-day International conference (17-18 February, 2020) on “Contemporary Issues & Challenges to Polity & Governance in India: Emerging Paradigm Shifts & Future Agenda” being held at Govt. Mohindra College came to a conclusion. Dr. Simrat Kaur, Principal of the college, welcomed everyone in the valedictory session of the conference. She also congratulated everyone including the conference managing committee, faculty members, and other employees for making the conference a huge success. During the valedictory session, Assistant Prof. Loveleen Parmar presented the conference report. She told that 250 abstracts were received for the conference, out of which 208 research papers were presented during the 10 technical sessions held in these two days.The valedictory address was presented by Prof. (Dr.) JA Khan who is the Former Dean, College Dev. Council, Punjabi University, Patiala. He said that the main challenges to the polity and governance today are issues regarding citizenship and migration, economic slowdown, poor condition of public sector and educational institutions, corruption, worsening environmental conditions, intolerance and pseudo-nationalism. 

He congratulated the college on organizing a successful research conference on such an important, wide and relevant issue. He also added that Govt. Mohindra College has always been one of the best colleges in the region and has been continuously expanding.Following that, Parminder Kaur, CJM cum Secretary DLSA, gave a special address to the audience and talked about the features of the Indian constitution, especially fundamental duties and general duties of the citizens. She remarked that before claiming our rights as citizens, we should perform our duties. She said that through the performance of these duties, we can overcome many challenges at the national level.Dr. Suresh Sharma, Director Conference, presented the concluding remarks and said that every nation has their own set of challenges which should be dealt with; but, to eliminate such challenges and to ensure a good functioning governance it is important that we all stop the blame game, change our mindsets and move towards the development standing united even in our diversities. Prof. Tripti Sharma, Vice Principal of the college, gave the vote of thanks to all the guests, delegates, and research scholars.
