Srinagar , 25 Nov 2019

The five member Concerned Citizens Group (CCG) led by former Bhartiya Janata Party leader and union minister Yashwant Sinha on Monday said that they are feeling disappointed as they were confined to Srinagar district only by the security agencies who cited militancy issues for them not to visit any other area of Kashmir. The CCG said that they are leaving Srinagar on a bad taste as they couldn’t meet the persons they intended to gauge the actual scene on ground. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), former finance minister and BJP leader Yashwant Shina-led group concluded their four-day Kashmir visit after being denied permission to meet former Chief Ministers who have detained after the revocation of Article 370. The group, however, said that they are leaving Srinagar on a bad note as they were not allowed to meet people of their choice neither the areas they intended to visit.Besides, Sinha, the other members of the group include former bureaucrat Wajahat Habibullah, Kapil Kak, Sushoba Bharve and journalist Bharat Bhushan and Kapil Kak. The group met with several delegations and members of the civil society after reaching Srinagar on November 21.After speaking to Farooq on phone, Sinha wanted a meeting NC leader and MP from Srinagar but was denied permission by J&K administration.  “We felt that we were under constant watch by the security agencies. While leaving Srinagar, we decided not to pass through the way where Dr Farooq is detained,” a visibly-upset Sinha, told KNO.He had said he would like to wave at Farooq from the outside of his residence in case they are denied a meeting with, but after being denied permission to pass by Farooq residence, the group headed to airport. A security advisory on November 23 had barred the group from travelling to south Kashmir due to ‘terrorism problem’.Sinha was disallowed from visiting Kashmir and was turned back from the airport in September.
