Director General Social Welfare, Rukhsana Gani today reviewed public welfare schemes being implemented by Social Welfare Department.The Director General also visited the District Officer, Tehsil Offices and Bal Ashram and Naari Niketan in Srinagar.Seeking details regarding various social welfare schemes, she was informed that a total number of 39882 beneficiaries are receiving financial assistance under various schemes including ISSS and NSAP in the district.DG approved the sanction of financial assistance to 2200 cases under Integrated Social Security Scheme for Old Age Persons, Women in Distress and Physically Challenged Person besides NSAP and ISSS.She also revived implementation of SMAS, Prosthetic Aid to SAP’s, Grant in Aid to NGO in the district.Later, the Director General visited orphan and children in distress at official homes of Social Welfare Department at Shalimar and assured all possible support for the inmates of the home.The DG was accompanied by Director SWD, Deputy Director SWD, Assistant Director SWD and various other officers.
