Patiala Postal Division has organized a District Level Philatelic Exibition ‘PATIALAPEX-2019’ on 12th and 13th October, 2019 at HarpalTiwana Centre for performing arts, Nabha Road, Patiala on Gandhian Theme. Sh. Anil Kumar, Chief Postmaster General, Punjab Circle, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest of the opening ceremony of the Exhibition and Sh. Kumar Amit, Deputy Commissioner, SSP Mandeep SIngh Sidhu and his wife Dr Sukhveen Sidhu, MC Commissioner Punamdeep Kaur were the Special Guest who appreciated the event as well. SSP of Patiala Post Division Ms Arti Verma said that  About 67  frames were put for display of stamps collections of Mahatma Gandhi by the renowned philatelists & students.Sh. Sanjay Dhawan, Philatelist and Varun Kumar Aggarwal, Philatelist held the workshop on philately and addressed the school children to develop the hobby of Philately and also guided them how to collect and secure stamps for the purpose.Superboy Karan (RJ) hosted and conducted the quiz on theme related to Mahatma Gandhi and Philately. 

Drawing competition/declamation was also organizedin which students of Police DAV, DAV Public School, YPS, PPS Nabha, Delhi Public School, Kaintal, ShriAurvindo Public Schoolsand students of MM Modi College, Mahindra College, Govt. College for Girls, Bikram College of Commerce, Thapar College, RGNUL and Punjabi University etc.took participation.Selfie points were showcased at the exhibition as Special attraction in which most of the people who attended exhibition took their photographs as a memory.Efforts were also made to keep the event single use plastic free as an initiative to give the message of swacchta abhiyan and people also took Pledge to do away with the single use plastic by taking selfie with the pledge. A small act on Swachhta was also played by the students of Government Multipurpose School, Patiala.During the Exhibition three special covers were released by the Postal Department on ‘PATIALAPEX2019’, Mahatma Gandhi and Save environment, Say no to plastic. Smt. Poonam, Municipal Commissioner, Patiala was kind enough to get special cover released on ‘Save Environment, Say no to Plastic’. In order to promote the Gandhi Ji’s motto of SWADESHI and his teachings of self-supporting and self-contained unit, a special stall as an platform was also provided to the Self-help group of Patiala and the products made by them were also showcased during the exhibition.Besides this, cultural programme was also organized which included folk item Bhangra during the exhibition. The prizes to Philatelists and students will be awarded on 13th October, 2019 at 1500 hours.
