To give impetus to the overall development of the city, Lok Sabha MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh on Thursday reviewed the progress of development works being executed under Smart City Project.During the meeting, MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh directed the officials to leave no stone unturned to make the Smart City Project a reality soon in Jalandhar and said the people have a lot of expectations from them.MP said major push needed to be given to these projects for ensuring holistic development of the city on modern lines for which he would also meet high-ups in the Chandigarh.Meanwhile, Chaudhary Santokh Singh directed the officials to complete the work of junction improvement at Workshop Chowk by November 1 and there must not be any kind of laxity otherwise action would be taken accordingly.He said that next month, lakhs of people will be visiting Sultanpur Lodhi ahead of 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and huge traffic will flow on this route so officials must give topmost priority on the completion of work at Workshop Chowk.

He told that under the visionary and dynamic leadership of the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh the state government was committed giving a fillip to the projects under the Smart City Scheme.Smart City CEO Mr Jitendra Jorwal said that all the construction material, tiles, pipes, machinery are at the site and laying of pipes will start within two-days.He said that as a part of junction improvement the works of improvement in lane geometry, lane marking, wider pedestrian pathways, tabletop crossings and tactile tiles, SS railings and ramps and others would be carried out. He said that the motive was to ensure smooth and hassle-free movement of traffic and give a serene look to the chowks.Mr Jorwal told MP that the work on installing solar rooftop panels at 17 government buildings is already started and three solar top panels have been installed in Sports College, Meritorious School and Nehru Garden Government Senior Secondary School for Girls.He detailed Lok Sabha MP about the position of other developmental works and said that the work on these projects would be timely completed to ensure that city resident was benefitted from it.
