Under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh, the state government’s flagship ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’ scheme during its ongoing 5th Mega Job Fair has offered 2.10 lakh jobs to the youth across the state. 46800 youth have been so far selected for various placements beside identification of another 13349 for self-employment ventures.Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Employment Generation Department said that the job fairs which had begun on September 9 had received massive response with participation of 71562 youth till date. The packages offered to the students range upto Rs. 10 lakh per annum, the spokesperson further said adding that 3488 applicants had also been cleared for skill training to complement their existing knowledge base.The state government had launched “Ghar Ghar Rozgar Mission” to enable every unemployed youth with employment (self or wage) as per his/her eligibility. The program also includes component to skill the unskilled to make them employable.The present job fair will culminate with the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh personally handing over the appointment letters to successful candidates at Chamkaur Sahib in Ropar district on October 5. 

The Department of Employment Generation & Training had identified over 2 lakh job openings across a wide spectrum of avenues, the spokesperson added.Concerted efforts of the Department has resulted in facilitating the unemployed youth to get self or wage employment (at the rate of more than a 1000 employments/day), including liaising with the banks for arranging loans to fund their self-employed ventures. The District Bureaus of Employment and Enterprises (DBEEs) in all districts have become the nodal centres for the job seekers.Divulging the details, the spokesperson stated while 5366 candidates have been selected from Mohali followed with 4931 from Ludhiana, another 4056 have been chosen from Fazilka and 3055 from Jalandhar. Likewise, as many as 3031 candidates have been selected from Sangrur followed by 3018 of Mansa with Barnala and Gurdaspur at 2850, and 2700 respectively. Kapurthala had 2625 candidates followed by Patiala (2272), SBS Nagar (2364), Bathinda (1953), and Tarn Taran (1943).Out of self employment ventures identified, 3790 have been selected so far in Kapurthala with 1330 from Fazilka district and 1353 off Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. From those selected for skill training 794 were from Kapurthala, 410 from Fazilka, 366 from Sangrur followed by Ludhiana (258), Jalandhar (246) and Gurdaspur (220), the spokesperson added.Pertinently, nearly 55000 jobs were earlier given to the unemployed youth during various job fairs held across the state in February 2019.
