Asks district administration to speed up the plugging of breaches besides providing relief material to the victims

Senior advisor to the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh Lt General (Rtd) T S Shergill today said that the Punjab Government would chalk out a comprehensive action plan to avoid the damage caused by flood in Satluj and Beas river in future . Today in the village Mau sahib during the visit to the flood affected areas of Phillaur sub division, Mr Shergill said that the Government has sought a detailed report from the concerned Deputy Commissioner to identify the causes and solutions to avoid this kind of situation in future. He said that the emphasis would be given to strenthan the banks of both these rivers under the action plan besides clearing the natural flows of water.Senior advisor also asked the ADC Jalandhar Jasbir singh to speed up the work to fullfill the breaches at all 4 points in Phillaur sub division as the water level decreased nearly 1 feet from yesterday .Reviewing the food and civil supplies at relief camps , the Senior advisor asked the officials to ensure the food delivery to the each and every needy one in the hour of crisis.Officials has informed that the timely planning and implementation has saved many lives as more than 80 people were rescued from far reach areas of Dhanis with the help of NDRF , SDRF and Punjab police.He said that the district administration has set up 18 relief camps at various schools , Dharam Shalas and Gurdwaras . He said that the cooked food and drinking water was provided to more than 1500 people in relief camps besides organising medical camps at affected areas .Senior advisor has also asked the officials to depute the revenue officials to conduct special girdawari as soon as the water level decreased.
