A delegation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday met Speaker Rana KP and submitted a  memorandum seeking a 2-day special Assembly session each on all core issues concerning Punjab and its people.Others who accompanied the delegation included Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Prof. Baljinder Kaur, Jai Kishan Singh Rori, Meet Hayer, (All MLAs), Review Committee Chairman Harchand Singh Bursat, Political Advisor to LoP, Naveedeep Singh Sangha, State Media In charge Manjit Singh Sidhu and Youth Wing Spokesperson Amritpal Singh. The delegation also demanded live broadcast of the House proceedings.The issues of concern that figured in the memorandum included the serious water crisis Punjab was passing through, a debate on all geographical, social, political, administrative and legal aspects associated with the polluted river waters, farm crisis, heavy debts and unabated suicides committed by farming community, menace of drugs and unemployment in Punjab forcing the youth getting hooked to drugs.

The delegation demanded special debate over the worst ever law and order situation in the state,  politicization of police administration and active mafia having direct access to prisons across the  state. Another serious debate figured in the memorandum was the falling standards of government school/ college education and badly hit government health services in the state.The AAP delegation also sought a detailed debate on the issue of allotment of 5-marla plots to the homeless Dalit community, MGNREGA scheme, SC scholarship, etc.The issue of high rate of electricity in the state, scrapping of anti-state power purchase agreements (PPOs) signed between the then BJP-SAD government and private thermal plants, and winding up government thermal plants in state also figured in the memorandum.
