To assess the quality of medical services, punctuality and patient care, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur Chander Gain paid a surprise visit to the local civil hospital late night around 9 pm and inspected various wards of the hospital and took stock of the medical facilities being provided to the patients. In order to get first hand feedback, DC interacted with patients and their relatives and enquired about the level of services provided to them. Deputy Commissioner expressed his displeasures over various flaws in the hospital after a sudden inspection at the civil hospital. He said, a notice is being issued to the Civil Surgeon for taking action against the doctors and staff responsible for carelessness. On inspection of the Emergency Ward, Deputy Commissioner noticed the dustbins were filled up to the top, cotton swabs with bloods were lying on the ground besides there was no bed sheet on the bed in the ward which left the deputy commissioner surprised.

Expressing his annoyance over the emergency ward giving a shabby look, he said, there is every possibility getting infected by the patients and their kin.Later on, he also inspected the recovery room of the hospital, which too was not giving a good look.  He directed the doctors and staff on duty to take care of the cleanliness in future and ensure that the patients get the treatment in good environment.Deputy Commissioner said that due to many viruses and fever in rain days, there might be considerable increase in OPD and indoor patients and our preparation should be of high level.  Rebuking the on duty doctors on seeing the condition of the hospital, Deputy Commissioner said our preparedness is not according to the standards.  He directed them to improve the situation on war-footing basis by putting the entire staff on duty. Further he asked civil surgeon to take departmental action against the erring staff and doctors over such dilapidated conditions of the hospital.
