Mehbooba Mufti accuses Modi of planning attack on Kashmir to woo vote bank

PDP chief and former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti on Monday targeted PM Narendra Modi, accusing him of “planning attack on Pakistan” in order to woo his votebank before elections.Mufti claimed that PM Modi wanted the security forces to carry out a “Balakot-like attack” on Pakistan in a bid to garner more votes in the ongoing Lok Sabha election.Addressing a workers convention in Bijbehara, Mehbooba said issues such as maintaining status quo on Article 370 and Article 35A have taken precedence over other matters and rightfully so.She added “In its desperation to win this election, seems like misappropriation of our jawans sacrifices and polarising the electorate hasn’t helped BJP”."Now they are creating fear psychosis by using national security as a guise to prepare ground for another Balakot like strike', said Mehbooba Mufti.She said, "He is trying to incite communal violence to win votes. They saw defeat coming their way in the first phase and they are now creating insecurity everywhere".The situation they have created suggests that they might stage another Balakot like attack on Pakistan to get votes."
While speaking to reporters here, Mufti said, "Narendra Modi has failed in all his attempts. He tried to incite communal violence and create polarisation here. He also did drama of Balakot attack. Now they can see their defeat in the first phase of elections. He is creating a sense of insecurity among people and it seems that they are planning another attack on Pakistan so that they get votes in the other phases."She also claimed that everything BJP is doing today is only for votes. "Be it attack on Pakistan or strictness in Kashmir, it is all vote politics and nothing else," she said. Mufti also said that a lot of questions have been raised on the Pulwama attack and how it happened. "BJP leaders are suffering from the disease of fear. Our country is secular. Those who are saying anything against secularism should get mental treatment," she had told reporters. (PTK)
