2858 girls to get bicycles in Barnala district under Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme of Punjab Government : Dharam Pal Gupta

Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government has decided to distribute free bicycles to girl students of class 11th and 12th studying in government schools of the state. While elaborating the information, Deputy Commissioner Barnala Dharam Pal Gupta said that the girl students of class 11th and 12th will be gifted 2858 bicycles under the Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme of Punjab Government. He added that the formal distribution of bicycles has also been started from January 26 during Republic Day function.Mr. Gupta added that the lists of beneficiary girl students of all 44 government senior secondary schools in the district have been collected from local education department and the orders have also been placed to three different cycle manufacturing firms. He added that soon these firms would deliver the bicycles in the schools across the district.DC said that the objective of the scheme is to provide a comfortable travel to girl students to their respective schools as they could continue their studies up to senior secondary level. He added that with the help of these bicycles, girls studying far from their homes could easily travel to their schools which would also reduce the dropout rate of girl students from schools.
