Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Lieutenant General (Retd.) TS Shergill today said that as per the feedback provided by the Guardians of Governance (GoGs), the Punjab government has decided to allocate Rs 4000 crore for the comprehensive development of all the villages.Interacting with the media persons during a meeting to review the performance of the GoGs here at the district administrative complex today, the Senior Advisor to Chief Minister, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma and his Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Mr. Karanveer Singh, said that the GoGs had conducted village level survey, in consultation with villagers, to gauge three top priority development works required in every village. He said that after the survey in all the more than 12000 villages of the state a report was submitted to the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, as per which an outlay of Rs 4000 crore was required. Lieutenant General (Retd.) Shergill said that the Chief Minister has agreed to allocate these funds to the villages, with which their complete facelift would be ensured.The Senior Advisor to the Chief Minister further said that the GoGs were making strenuous efforts to ensure good governance to the people through the feedback mechanism, which was shared with the Chief Minister, Deputy Commissioners and the Sub Divisional Magistrates. He said that this first of its kind initiative in the country has been very helpful in providing quality citizen centric services to the people.

 Lieutenant General (Retd.) Shergill said that currently all the villages of the state have been covered under the scheme in which more than 4000 GoGs were rendering valuable services to the people. The Senior Advisor to the Chief Minister further said that the feedback of the GoGs was largely from 32 different areas/ schemes of the state government.Earlier, presiding over a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and the other officers of the administration, the Senior Advisor to the Chief Minister said that GoGs were an integral part of the administration. He said that the basic motive of holding this meeting was to ensure better coordination amongst the GoGs and the district administration. Lieutenant General (Retd.) Shergill said that the close proximity between the administration and GoGs could further streamline the mechanism of giving valuable feedback to the state government. He also lauded the Deputy Commissioner for implementing this scheme in the right earnest in the district.Welcoming the Senior Advisor to the Chief Minister, the Deputy Commissioner apprised him that this flagship scheme of the Punjab government has been zealously implemented by the district administration. He assured Lieutenant General (Retd.) Shergill that the district administration would leave no stone unturned for further making this scheme a huge success in the district. On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioners Mr. Jitendra Jorwal and Mr. Jasbir Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr. Paramvir Singh, Mr. Amit Kumar, Mr. Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa, Mr. Sanjiv Sharma and Ms. Navneet Kaur Bal, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Jai Inder Singh, District Head of GoGs Major General (Retd.) Balwinder Singh and others were also present.
