Will probe killings if elected to power with majority: Farooq Abdullah

National Conference president Farooq Abdullah said that he will announce a truth and reconciliation process to probe killings if his party is elected to power with a majority in upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.Talking to reporters in south Kashmir’s Anantnag, Farooq Abdullah, said his son and NC vice president Omar Abdullah had already asked for a truth and reconciliation commission.We hope that God brings our party into power strongly and we don’t have to stand on crutches. This (probe) will be a great thing that we will announce on the very day when the new government takes over that we will appoint such a commission see to it that the results are brought before the people not only in Jammu and Kashmir but in rest of the world,” said Abdullah when asked by a journalist whether his government will seek a probe into 2016 killings", he said.Dr Farooq Abdullah said “Home Minister Rajnath Singh should send invitation to Hurriyat leaders for Talks before elections. He advised Home Minister to invite Hurriyat leaders to Delhi” Abdullah added that when army chief engaging with Taliban without any preconditions, Abdullah added if the Army could suggest it, then the Centre should also talk with the Hurriyat leaders to solve the Kashmir issue.Abdullah also said that his party wouldn’t support ‘Operation All-out’ launched against the militants.“How can we support something where there is suppression?  We do not want our people that they will be beaten at home. We are not going to support any violation of human rights, we live in a free country,” he said. (PTK)
