Year 2018 has been full of achievements for Science City. Around 1.32 lakh students of  govt. schools from  all over Punjab and 15000 students from Chandigarh   visited  the Science City. Besides, Haryana School Education Department  also organized the visits of more than 1000 students of govt. schools.  44 lakh visitors so far visited science City ever since its opening to public on March 20, 2005. This was expressed by Dr. Neelima Jearth, Director General Science City in  this press release. Further she said, Robotic Dinosaur gallery has been set up  and  moving Dinosaur   have been a star attraction.  Visitors have been  enjoying   real fun on seeing Dinosaurs with their  eyes blinking, opening and closing movement of mouth with emulating sound, movement of front claws, swaying of tail and breathing movement of stomach. Life size model of Tyrannosaurus (T Rex) Stegosaurus, Mamenchisaurus, Triceratops and  Baryonyx has been  setup in this gallery. Five scientific informative kiosks based on Metallurgy, Gemology, Geology, Numismatic and Soil Science has been  setup. These exhibits  make students and general public aware about various types of metals and alloys, physical properties of different gems, various types of rocks and minerals, different kinds of coins of pre and post-independence period as well as various types of soils prevailing in the country.  I-MAX film “EVEREST” is  re-launched in  the space theater on the demand of visitors. The film  depicts the beauty of Himalayas as well as describes the challenges faced by mountaineers. She added.Mobile Science Exhibition bus is being run to every nook and corner of Punjab in order to bring Science at their door steps. More than 50 thousand students got opportunity to see the Mini Science gallery. Subsequently, 50 Genetic Literacy clubs have been set up under the Genetic Literacy programme.  Talking about the  Innovation Hub she said that, project is running  successfully  and  achieving its  objective to  develop  culture of innovation and creativity amongst students by engaging young minds in various Scientific activities.  Under  this programme more than 30 workshops in various  fields  of Science & Technology   were  organized  and  around 500 students have been  enrolled as  members  of Innovation Hub .

Up Coming:

Region‘s first 5-D theatre is to be set up in Science City in the next year.Project entitle “Women Technology Park” is planned through setup  which is  under process. The objective of project is to motivate women to be an entrepreneur as well as make them self  reliant.Under the skill development mission Punjab three short term courses Domestic electric instrument repairer, Electronics and Arc Gass welding will  be started very soon.These are free courses   for kapurthala domicile to  enable  youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood. A  project proposal related to setting up of mathematics gallery has been submitted to the Govt.of India. This is to be considered as first Mathematic Gallery in the region. The objective is to  present  mathematic in an easy way  to understand  .
