Drug smugglers to face punitive sentences from courts : Suresh Arora

In a bid to eradicate the drugs abuse, DGP Suresh Arora said State Police and STF will work in synergy to eliminate the menace of drugs from the state.Disclosing this in a meeting with border range senior police officers, DGP Suresh Arora and DGP STF Mohammad Mustafa said a massive campaign have been commenced against drug peddlers and their cases would be followed properly so that they must face strict punishments from the courts. He reiterated that Punjab Police and STF are from the same department and would work in unison to take strict action against drug peddlers and their properties would be confiscated under the prevalent laws.

He stated that sports clubs should be opened in villages and cities so as young generation could opt to play games and make the country proud by winning medals in sports. He asked the police officers to carry out their duties with honesty and zeal to boost the image of Punjab Police in the public. In turn this step would enhance the immediacy between public and police and this initiative would prove to be helpful in eliminating the drug abuse from the state.Among others present in the meeting included ADGP Law & Order Ishwer Singh, IG STF R.K. Jaiswal, IG border range Surinderpal Singh Parmar, Police Commissioner Amritsar S.S Srivastva, SSP Amritsar  (Rural) and other senior police officers of the Amritsar and Tarn Taran districts.
